Top 5 hockey sticks

Hi, today I am going to be blogging  about my top 5 favourite hockey sticks.

5. Warrior Covert QR Edge

This is on my list because I used to have one and I really liked it. The sticks are really nicely coloured, and I liked the curve mine had, which I think was W03. I had the one that was blue on the bottom and orange on the top. The only bad thing about this stick is that it is pretty heavy, weighing 411 grams. The reason I don’t like heavy sticks is because it is harder to hold and so you have a little less control while stickhandling.

This is this years model so that is why it doesn’t have a blue curve.

4. Bauer Nexus ADV

I have never had this stick but I think it looks so cool. However, it might not actually be that good because almost no NHL’ers use it. This is the stick with the hole in the blade. I have also heard a lot of stories of people breaking a bunch of these. This stick has 5 sides, there is an extra side on the shaft, for better grip. This stick weighs 365 grams, so it is much easier to hold as well.

You can see the hole on the backhand.

3. Bauer Supreme S37

This is the stick I currently have. It is a nice looking stick and it is pretty grippy. The worst part about this is that it is pretty heavy, weighing 465 grams. A good thing about heavy sticks is you can get used to them. This is one of the best Bauer Supreme sticks you can get, after the Ultrasonic. This stick is 3rd because I have never had a Nexus ADV before, and I like Bauer better than Warrior.

2. Bauer Supreme Ultrasonic

I have never actually had this stick before, but I have heard lots of good things and I have seen some people play with it. It has nice colours and looks nice too. It is pretty light, weighing 390 grams, just barely more than the ADV and I would probably not feel the difference. If I had the choice to pick this stick, I would, as long as the number one stick was not an option. It is very shiny too, and that makes it look even nicer. Ultimately, I think this stick should be here at number 2.

As you can see, it has green and yellow, which puts it above previous years where it was plain old yellow and not that shiny either.

1. Bauer Vapour Flylite

This is my number one stick. It has the nicest colours, and it is pretty light too, weighing 390 grams, exactly the same as the Ultrasonic. I am guessing the ADV would way this much too, if it  didn’t have a hole in the blade. I have had this stick before, and I just recently broke it. My favourite colour is red, which is the colour of this stick. This stick is my absolute favourite, and I would completely recommend it to anyone reading this.

Calvin and Hobbes

Calvin and Hobbes is a comic that is my favourite comic ever. It is about a kid named Calvin who has a huge imagination, and a stuffed tiger named Hobbes that Calvin thinks is real. Calvin’s dad always talks about building character. There is a girl named Susie that he hates that is in his class at school. His teacher is named Mrs. Wormwood. He hates school and that makes for a lot of funny comics. Part of the reason he hates school is a kid named Moe, the class bully who shaves already, and he is only five. Calvin creates inventions, most of them being a cardboard box and writing on it what it is.

I have the full collection of Calvin and Hobbes and I have read it over 3 times. I always laugh at the comics. Bill Waterson (the author) must have had a lot of good ideas and a great mind for comedy. Most people say that he got his idea from his kids, but he does not have any kids, as he said in the full collection. This comic strip started in November 1985- December 1995.

Calvin’s inventions include a transmogrifier, transmogrifier gun (both of which turn you into the animal/item of your choice), a clone machine, a updated clone machine, and a time machine, but I am sure I am forgetting some. Calvin also sometimes pretends he is a different person with a different job. The people he pretends to be is Tracer Bullet (private eye), Spaceman Spiff (an astronaut), and Stupendous Man (a superhero).

My favourite comic is when Calvin’s dad can’t find his glasses. He is looking all over for them but then Calvin comes up with his hair neatly combed and says, “Calvin, go do something you hate! Being miserable builds character!”

The only way you get this comic is if you are a Calvin and Hobbes fan.

Here is another funny one I like.

The Untitled Goose Game

Today I am going to blog about the Untitled Goose Game. The Untitled Goose Game is where you are a Goose in a happy neighborhood and you are supposed to annoy people. I play on Xbox, but it is also on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PS4.

Release date: September 20, 2019

Creator: House House

Age rating: Everyone

Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars, 1304 ratings

Extra things: There is a dedicated honk button, (x on Xbox). This is not useless, it will come in handy.

The Lady in the back gardens peeks through the fence at her neighbour (this is useless)

This game won the Game of the year in 2019, even with only coming out with 3 and a half months left.

Recently there has been a multiplayer mode added to cause twice the trouble.

Goal of the game: The goose character has a checklist of things like “Get the gardeners keys” or “Trap the boy in the telephone booth” or “Steal the boy’s glasses”. There are 4 levels of this and then an extra place called Model Village, which is hidden behind the Pub that is a model of the entire village you are disturbing. To beat the game you have to steal a bell there and bring it home to the forest where you begin.

Levels:

Gardens: The gardens are the first level. You have to swim across a river to get to a square garden that you are locked out of. There are two ways to get in, the best way being a hole in the bushes. Inside there is 5-6 boxes of different plants.  There is a gardener that walks around and fixes the mess you make the entire time. The checklist is like this:

Steal the Gardeners keys

Get into the garden

Get the gardener wet

Rake in the Lake

Make the Gardener wear a sun hat

Make the Gardener hammer his thumb

Make a picnic

Etc.

Although this level is hard, it is always fun when you figure out how to do one.

High Street:

High street is a street with an outdoor shop, TV Shop, and a little park in the farthest corner. This place has a boy who runs around kicking his soccer ball and playing with a toy airplane. He is very afraid of you, so that is how you get him locked in the phone booth. Getting him in there can get you on TV if you explore after that. The store has a lot of items you will need as well. A fun thing to do here is take the walkie talkies from the park and put one in the phone booth, and keep the other one. then you can honk at the boy to tarp him and then honk at him through the walkie talkie. There is only 2 characters here, and the other character is the store owner. Technically, there is three characters, but the third works at the TV store and only helps with one activity.

The checklist is like this

Go shopping

Lock the boy in the phone booth

Lock the woman in the garage

Get on TV

Make someone buy back their own stuff

Break the woman’s broom

Etc.

This level is hard, but I find it easier than the gardens

The Back Gardens

The Back Gardens is two gardens that neighbours have that are separated by  a fence. The man likes to drink coffee and read his news paper, and the woman likes to paint. There is a higher and lower ground in both sides. To get into the garden, go to the mans side and break some fence posts to get in. You can hide behind a bush to get away from the mans view so he does not kick you out. To get into the woman’s side you have to untie a string to open a broken piece of the fence and get in. Go to the top corner, pull out all the drawers, and then it creates a ramp to get to the man’s side again. The checklist here goes like this.

Break a priceless vase

Make the man spill his coffee

Make someone cut the prize rose

Do the laundry

Make the man go barefoot

Help dress up the bust

Get a bowtie

Etc.

This level is pretty hard, but the hardest is definitely the pub.

The Pub

The pub is the last level. There is many people in this level, but the main on His the pub owner, he hates geese and won’t let you go in unless you untie his shoes or hide in a mail box. There is a little pathway under the restaurant part that helps you stay out of the owners view. The characters are: the owner, the mailman, the waitress/maid, an old man who plays darts and his harmonica, and two ladies who are talking at a picnic table.

The checklist is like this:

Make the man fall

Get awarded a flower

Get in the Pub

Set the table

Break the dartboard

Make a bucket fall on the owners head

Etc.

This is the hardest level  by a longshot  but it is the most fun to.

The last level is Model Village, but I already explained it. Model Village is not that hard, though, because the village all wants the bell but they keep it themselves so you steal it from them instead of starting all over again.

I find this game very fun, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes any kind of slapstick or even just comedy. If you are interested, follow this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Untitled_Goose_Game

Frank, the Flying Monkey

The past few weeks our class has been working on a Writers Workshop, where you choose a narrative, descriptive, expository, or persuasive type of story  and find a topic and write about it. My Writers Workshop is called Frank, the Flying Monkey, which is a narrative.

Frank, the Flying Monkey

You have heard about flying squirrels, but have you heard about flying monkeys? There was a parrot named Johnny, and a monkey named Frank.

One day, Johnny decided to teach Frank how to fly. The first lesson ended like this: THUMP,  Frank had, gracefully, belly flopped, his hands flapping like a piece of paper in the wind.

“OOUUUCCHH,” Frank said. He felt the huge bump on his chest. There was a throbbing pain right in the middle of it.

“Aw. C’mon! Come try again.” Said Johnny.

The second lesson ended exactly like the first one and the bump on Frank’s chest just kept on getting bigger and bigger.

“Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow.” Said Frank in pain. “How was I dumb enough to try flying without wings?”

“Wings! That’s it! Frank, you’re a genius!” shouted Johnny.

“Yeah, yeah. I knew that already,” Chuckled Frank.

Johnny created the wings by taking dozens of leaves and tying them onto a string. Then he added two  extra straps across the arms so it would fit on Frank.

“Here! Try this!” said Johnny.

Frank jumped from the treetop and flapped his newly built wings. They didn’t feel natural but he could deal with it. His wings caught air; he swooped up and was flying in circles all around the forest.

“I’m flying! I’m flying!” Yelled Frank. He was so excited he could hardly breathe. “I can see my house from here!” He kept on shouting.

But his weight and gravity teamed up and Frank fell flat on the ground. SPLAT!

“Try singing! It calms your nerves!.” said Johnny.

And so, after 30 minutes of Frank recovering from his latest fall, he tried again; although, this lesson started differently.

“I believe I can fly! I believe I can touch the sky!” Sang Frank as loud as he could, hoping this would end his potential fall on his chest again.

Then Franks eyes went wide. “Look! That banana! It’s so perfect! It’s so ,sniff, so beautiful!” Frank said, pointing at the perfectly coloured banana, his arms shaking.

A tiger snuck up below.

“ROOAAR! ROOAAR! I’M HUNGRY! I WANT TO HAVE LUNCH.” The tiger growled.

Frank didn’t notice the tiger, even though it was growling so loud, because he was to interested in the amazing banana. He leaped from the treetop and fell. But his wings came through again and he didn’t fall or hit the bump on his chest this time. He went flying towards the banana. SMACK! Frank was closer to that tiger then he had ever wanted to be. The tiger put his paw on Frank to keep him stuck on his face. The tiger growled with a deep voice and then opened his mouth wide.

“Don’t worry! I’ll save you!” yelled Johnny, before he slipped on a leftover banana peel that was from Frank’s lunch the day before.

SPLAT!

Mooaan.” Johnny groaned after the fall. But thinking about his best friend’s life and how it was in danger changed his attitude. He sprinted full-out towards the menacing tiger.

Johnny tickled, and tickled with his wings, until his wings were tired. And then he tickled some more. It was all he could do against a tiger that was ten times his size. Luckily, the tiger was ticklish and he laughed and let go of Frank.

Frank was all beat up but he wouldn’t resist the chance to get back at that ferocious tiger. He chomped the tigers front leg to distract the tiger and then quickly scurried to the back of him, so he could hop up on it’s back. Once he was there he breathed his terribly smelly banana breath right in the tiger’s face.

The tiger was so grossed out that he ran away, whimpering, “No one ever taught that monkey how to brush his teeth.”

Frank decided he was done with flying. But the perfect banana was still up on the tree. He knew it had almost cost him his life but he just wanted to taste that thing so bad that he didn’t care.

He took his damaged wings and put in his old banana peels for replacements. He climbed the tree and took off. The banana peels worked! He soared, faster then ever before. He flew through the sky and snatched the banana. The banana looked even better up close.

Frank said to the banana, “Hi Mr. Banana! My belly has been dying to meet you!”

“Frank! Frank! FRANK! Look out for that tree!” Shouted Johnny.

To late.

Smack!

“Ouch.” Said Frank, although by now he was used to it. There was a new bump on his head that felt bigger then the one on his chest.

Frank took a while but recovered and ate the banana. It tasted so good he forgot all about the monstrous bump on the top of his head.

And that is the story of Frank, the Flying Monkey.

Thank you for reading, I hope you like it.

NHL 21

Today NHL 21 came out, but with EA play you could play it early. EA Play is only 6 dollars, so I used my gift card money to get it so I could play NHL 21 early. I like it. EA added new features in the games I play that makes it much more fun. I am going to go over it in my blog today

NHL 21

Console-  Xbox One or PS4

Age- 10+

I think the only reason it is 10+ is because you can fight on the ice, but it is not violent. The worst thing that can happen is you can get a black eye.

Modes:

Be a Pro Mode- they updated this so you can now be interviewed, talk with your coach, GM, agent, and media. You can also get brand endorsements and get a contract so you get money (not real money) and you can buy things with it. The main purpose is to win the Calder trophy and Stanley cup.

Franchise Mode- In Franchise mode you can take control of any team and be the GM. You can make trades, draft, hire scouts, coaches, and you are basically building your team  to win the Stanley cup. You can even create a 32nd NHL team to expansion draft with, or do a fantasy draft, were all the  players leave their team and you can draft anyone in the NHL.

HUT- HUT is abbreviation for Hockey Ultimate Team, where you have to play games to gain money (again, not real money) and then you buy packs. In the packs have players, which you can either add to your lineup, or quicksell for  more money. This year they added a feature called HUT Rush, where you take your players to play a quick first to three game and you get more points for the harder the deke or play you pull off.  HUT  is online, so I don’t play it, but this year EA added a way to report players, so it is more friendly to all ages.

Threes- NHL threes is were you take any team, Including Mascots, and play 3 on 3 with a goal limit of 3-10, or with 2  minute periods. There is also money puck where you can get a goal that counts as 2-3, or a goal that minuses your opponent 1-3,.

World of Chel- In World of Chel, there are many game modes online, however, the most popular is Ones Eliminator or EASHL. Ones eliminator is were there is 3 people in a free for all for around 2 minutes and whoever has the most goals wins.  EASHL is a mode were you have a team with your friends and play 5 on 5 against another club. This year, if your team wins, you get a banner for your arena and a trophy. There is 5 different tiers, and the goal is to make it to the Elite Tier and win.

This is the main modes and overview of NHL 21. If you are interested in things like Be a Pro, follow this link. https://www.polygon.com/2020/10/1/21494339/nhl-21-be-a-pro-conversations-choices-ps4-xbox-one

Top 5 Lord of the Rings characters

Today I will be blogging about my top 5 favourite characters in my favourite book series, Lord of the Rings.

5. Frodo

Frodo is the main character in Lord of the Rings. He is the ring-bearer and the only person who can withstand the power of the ring. He was supposed to drop the ring into the fires of Mt. Doom but he was to weak and had to have help from his fellow Hobbit, Sam. That is why he is only 5th in my list. Frodo is the son of Bilbo, who is in The Hobbit .  Frodo got the ring from Bilbo, who  found the ring in the Goblin tunnels where Gollum lives. Frodo actually gets scars from chain that holds the ring on his neck, because the ring is so powerful it can get bigger or smaller and it also usually controls the person who is wearing it. But Frodo somehow doesn’t get overpowered by it.

4. Gimli

Gimli is a dwarf, who is the son of Thorin Oakinshield, who is the son and grandson of Thror and Thrain, who were the Dwarf kings that lived inside a mountain until one day Smaug came (who is a dragon) and burned everything and lived in the mountain. Gimli’s battle weapon is an axe, and he is pretty good with it. Him and Legolas have competitions to see who can get the most Orcs in the battles. I think Gimli is kind of funny because he has a really deep voice, is really short, and has a beard that almost touches the floor. Gimli doesn’t  help much but he is really good when he does help, although he is kind of greedy.

3.  Gandalf

Gandalf is a wizard, who almost dies in the Mines of Moria because a Balrog destroys the bridge to escape but he still survives the fall. This part is probably the most famous scene in the movie, because when the Balrog comes on teh bridge, Gandalf shouts, “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!” and slams his staff on the ground. Gandalf is very powerful and defeats Saruman, who is the king of the wizards. He defeats him because Saruman teams up with Sauron, who is trying to get the ring so he has enough power to rule the world. Gandalf is the  second best level of Wizard, he is grey, but when he comes out from the Mines of Moria he becomes white and then defeats Saruman. His magic always saves the fellowship of the ring when they are in need.

2. Aragorn

Aragorn is probably one of the most powerful powerful in the Fellowship of the Ring. He is amazing with the sword, and Frodo met him at the Prancing Pony Motel. The first night they meet each other, Aragorn saves Frodo from the Ringwraiths, Sauron’s main servants and soldiers. Aragorn saves Frodo almost in every single situation, and he always comes out alive and safe. More than once he fended off the Ringwariths, and I think even Gandalf is not as strong as him. Aragorn slays the great orc from the Uruk-hai, but only after the Orc slays Boromir. Aragorn is just one of the best fighters and also the bravest that there is in Lord of the Rings.

1.  Legolas

Legolas is an Elf that has a bow and arrows. He has a perfect shot and never misses. He helped slay the cave troll in the Mines of Moria, and has competitions with Gimli to see who gets the most Orcs. Legolas has long blond hair and big brown eyebrows. Him and Aragorn are who I think are the most powerful in the Fellowship of the Ring. There are some memes online about how Legolas never runs out of arrows, which is so true. I really like watching battle scenes that he is in, because he is perfect with his shot. I know I already said that but it is true, he never misses. Sadly he never goes with Frodo to Mt. Doom, but he saves Mary and Pippen from Saruman’s tower.

Those are my favourite  characters in Lord of The Rings. I recommend watching the movies, or at least reading the books. J.R.R Tolkien is an amazing writer that makes every story so interesting.

This is the powerful ring Frodo has to bring and drop into Mt. Doom.

Update in The NHL

STANLEY CUP

In the NHL, Tampa Bay won the cup with Vasilevskiy getting a shut-out 2-0. I predicted Tampa would win the cup (see my other posts) and I was right. Victor Hedman (D) won the Conn Smythe trophy as the most valuable player in the Playoffs with 10 goals. Tampa battled through Columbus, Boston, New York Islanders, and the Stars to win a cup after a disappointing sweep loss to Columbus last year.

TRADES

The Buffalo Sabres traded Marcus Johannson for Eric Staal in a deal with the Wild, which I think was a win for the Wild, because both teams are in the rebuilding stage and Johannson is younger so therefore more valuable, especially because Johannson is barely a lower skill level then him. The Winnipeg Jets had 1 of their top wingers make it on to TSN’s Tradebait list, Laine. There has been a lot of talk about Laine getting traded, although I think that would be a bad move for the Jets. If anyone, I would trade Ehlers instead. Laine’s potential places are the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Islanders, or Montreal Canadians. The Pittsburgh Penguins traded Hornqvist for Matheson with Florida which, I would say Florida won this trade.

FREE AGENTS

Free Agency starts in just over one week, and there are some possible big name D, including Pietrangelo, Barrie, and Byfuglien. Byfuglien had his contract Terminated but he might come back. Ottawa Senators bought out Bobby Ryan, who won the Bill Masterton trophy for perseverance and dedication. The New York Rangers bought out Lundqvists contract, and Lundqvist, even though he is old, is on the Free Agents, and I could see him still playing, although probably being a backup.

DRAFT

The New York Rangers won the draft lottery a little over a month ago, and are likely going to select superstar phenom Alexei Lafreniere with there pick. This draft is possibly the deepest of all time, with players up to the 8th spot being just as good as a regular 1st overall pick. The Kings have the second pick, Ottawa has 3rd from a trade with San Jose, Detroit Red Wings have 4th, and Ottawa has 5th. My guessing for the draft is

NY- Lafreniere (W)

LA- Byfield (C)

OTT- Stuetzle (C)

DET- Rossi (C)

OTT- Drysdale  (D)

Although Detroit already has Dylan Larkin and Joe Velenoe at Center, Rossi could play wing or Veleno could play wing. but I could also see The Wings could also take Drysdale for the blue line, and in that case Ottawa would take Rossi.

Thank you for reading. If you are interested in the trade bait list go follow this linkhttps://www.tsn.ca/tsn-hockey-s-trade-bait-list-1.203546
