Predictions for NHL playoffs Part one Metropolitan division

What is up guys. Today I am going to make my predictions for this years NHL playoffs. This blog post will be about the Metropolitan division. I will go through each of my predicted playoff matchups and who will win the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Starting off with Carolina vs. Washington.

Last year I thought the Washington Capitals were going all the way and winning the cup for the second time in the last couple years. I was wrong as they lost in the first round. I am not going to make that mistake again. There is a chance for an upset but the Capitals roster is aging and they are missing big parts of their cup win back in 2018. They have less good goalies, for one, and their offense has lost its firepower, besides Alex Ovechkin, who just gets better and better. Ovechkin is a candidate for the Hart trophy this year, because he has so many goals and points. Carolina is just so much deeper though, with Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov scoring and when those two don’t perform Teuvo Teravainen, Seth Jarvis, and their defense can step up. Kotkaniemi could also step up, although he has been relatively quiet this year. Carolina has amazing goaltending, with Frederik Anderson coming back from some below average years in Toronto to one of the best in the league. Their defense is also very good, with Jaccob Slavin leading the way and Ethan Bear, as an addition before the season started, playing good hockey. The Hurricanes are dominating this year and I expect them to continue in the playoffs. Washington did win the only regular season game between the two so far 4-0, but Carolina has to lose some games and when playoff time comes, they have been to the conference final before and they know what it takes to make it past the first round. I am predicting a 6 game series Carolina victory.

The next matchup is Pittsburgh vs. the New York Rangers.

This is a close matchup. Starting at forwards, the Penguins have Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin who will do anything to win. However, they don’t have any other top players besides Jake Guentzel. Kasperi Kapanen and Jeff Carter add depth but not very good skill. If Evan Rodrigues is on his game, he can deliver at a point per game, but he has seemed to have fizzled out since that time when he was hot. New York has Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider as amazing top players who are delivering every night. Then youngsters Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere can deliver sometimes as well. Ryan Strome and Barclay Goodrow add depth, and Goodrow knows what it takes to win a cup, as he did it twice with the Lightning. Then if you go to defense, Pittsburgh really only has Kris Letang, and the rest of their lineup in their top 6 is players who should be bottom 2 or scratch defense. New York is not that much better, but Adam Fox, reigning Norris champion, leads the way, with K’Andre Miller and Jacob Trouba following suit. Then the goalies come in. New York is the clear winner in this category, with Igor Shesterkin currently posting the second best single season save percentage in history, only Jacques Plante beating him. Backup Georgiev is decent for a backup. On the Penguins side, Tristan Jarry can deliver when he needs to but is nowhere near the calibre of Igor Shesterkin. Then they have Casey DeSmith who is not bad for a backup but he is incosistent and not trustworthy in the playoffs in my opinion. In the regular season so far, these two teams have played once and Pittsburgh won but it was off of Malkin’s goal, Sidney Crosby’s assist, in a 1-0 game. If New York shuts down those two key players from Pittsburgh, they can easily get out of the first round without a problem. I am predicting a 5 game series New York victory.

With these two teams moving on, it will be New York vs. Carolina for the Conference Final appearance. This one will be an interesting battle, as  it is possible either team could win. The last time they played Carolina won 6-3. That is how the whole series will go, in terms of goals. Both of these teams are high scoring and either of them could win. I think whoever gets 2 wins first will win. The New York Rangers will use their firepower though to win the whole thing. Barclay Goodrow knows what he needs to do to get the team pumped up and ready for a big win. Igor Shesterkin plays amazing when he needs to, and is the most reliable goalie in the entire league. Aho and Svechnikov could try to get a few past him, but the Rangers are going to be able to outscore their problems. Panarin, Fox, Zibanejad, and Kreider will all be able to outscore the Canes. I am thinking it will be a hard fought series, but the defense will not play a big part in it. Neither team’s defense is really that much better than the other, so it comes down to offense and goalies. Anderson is amazing, but Shesterkin is the best, and as I just said, the Rangers offense is better. So I am predicting a Game 7 Rangers victory.

He grew up to grade 7 chilling with the homies. Last summer he played baseball and cranked some home runs and also shared his memes with everybody. Currently he is sitting diagonally in front of me writing his blog in Mr. Ewerts grade 7-8 class. He is in grade 8. He is very tall coming in at 5’8″ and has muscles because he enjoys pumping iron sometimes in his free time.

Thanks for reading! See you guys all next time.

Provincials baby lets go

Ayo guess what guys? My U13 hockey team is going to provincials with a record of 4-0-0 in the playoffs, and only 1 loss this whole year. We are the Arborg Falcons. We started out this season strong dropping only one game 7-6 to Lundar in the first half of over 10 games. We got promoted to A because we were destroying our competition and we have not looked back since. Our regular season is ending after our game today against Stonewall. We beat them before already. Our season has been going really good. I have over 80 goals but I don’t remember exactly how much and also I have over 100 points this year but again I don’t remember exactly how much. We have been backed by solid goaltending, Mason and Charlie, and our defense is very good. We play with three lines of forwards and every single one of them can generate tons of offense.  My line is Carter and Tanner playing wing and I play center. Ronnie and Kolby are normally on the same line and lately we have switched Dawson and Tanner so instead of Dawson on my line Tanner is on my line and Dawson is on theirs. and the same for Ryder and Luke. My line normally stays the same but sometimes it gets switched for powerplays and penalty kills. They also get switched up when we have AP’s which are normally Austyn and Wyatt but sometimes we have Locklynn.

Our provincial playoffs were mostly a glide. We started off the first round playing Warren in a best of three. We took the first game and the second game quite easily and then we had to wait for about a week because a COVID wave hit our team. On the other side Lundar was playing Stony Mountain, and it should have been an easy win for Lundar but they surprisingly lost one game and barely squeaked out the 2-1 series win. It all came down to the final series against Lundar. We were obviously the favourites since we beat them in every game we played against them besides one regular season game in the starting half, but that unfortunately meant they had home ice advantage.

In our first game we started slow and Ronnie had to battle us through the opening period where he scored three goals. In the second we regained our traction and I scored a goal. It was right after Lundar scored when I pushed the puck ahead on the faceoff and skated around their defense on my backhand. Then I roofed it backhand. Then I scored another one but one of the players on the other team pushed the puck back before the ref came over so it did not count because the ref did not see it cross the goal line. We were fighting because whoever won this game had a chokehold on the other team in the series so we really needed to win. We had a 7-6 lead with only 20 seconds left and Lundar had their goalie pulled. I knew that they would probably score because they were controlling the puck and all we did was ice it which gave them another faceoff in our zone. With 14 seconds left of course a one-timer barely got passed Charlie. We headed to overtime. My line started in overtime and we had the puck. It got poked away and I picked it up in the neutral zone. I tried to go around the defense for a shot on goal but they held me to the outside so I had no choice but to circle around the net. I was planning to pass it out to someone who was open out front but I saw halfway around the net the goalie was still hugging the opposite post. I wrapped around and the puck barely got in. It got us the 8-7 OT win to take the 1-0 series lead. Our next game was the next day and I knew we could take the series. We played amazing and held them to only two goals in a 7-2 victory. It should have been 8-2 but one of my goals in that game also didn’t count for some reason which was pretty sad but it didn’t affect the end goal of making provincials which we did, completing the sweep. Our provincials are in Kilarny which is about an hour from Brandon and it is in 2 weeks.

How To Fix The Montreal Canadiens

Hello, today I will continue my series that I started last year on how to fix NHL teams. Today it is the dead last Montreal Canadiens.

  1. Offense problems

Almost the whole offense core needs to be redone. Hoffman, Caufield, Dvorak, Suzuki, Drouin, Gallagher and Anderson can stay. They could keep some of their others too, but all these guys are mostly 2-3 liners. Suzuki, Caufield, and Anderson they need to build their whole team around. If those three get good chemistry with someone they would score so many goals and get so many points. So fill up the rest of your lineup with players worthy of the top spots. Its as simple as that. If Danault and Kotkaniemi stayed it would’ve been a lot easier because their center depth would be amazing, which is important, but now they need to trade for players who are worthy of the first line.

2. Solving that problem

Right now Caufield is not good enough to be a first liner, so they could go find a one or two year right winger. Their only problem is they have no cap space. And the reason that is is because of non-playing Shea Weber and decent goalie Carey Price (He only turns back to what he was in the playoffs.) They want to keep Price for sure, but maybe they could sneakily lower his cap. Carey Price is not even playing right now either. He will be 38 on a 10.5 M dollar contract when it runs out. He is 34 right now. What they could do is trade him to the Buffalo Sabres or Anaheim Ducks for future considerations (The considerations being they instantly trade him back on a 50% retained salary) and then Montreal gives the Sabres or Ducks Artturi Lehkonen or another low-cap young player in return as a thank you for giving them cap relief. Bang, 7.55M in leftovers when you count in Lehkonen. Then go after a high profile right winger who is an upcoming UFA and under 7M. Someone like David Perron, a great right winger who is a UFA after this year, and has only a 4 million dollar cap hit. With the extra 3.5, go after another forward, preferably another right winger since they lost Artturi Lehkonen. You could even go for someone over 3.5 and get a retained salary. Boom, you have two great right wingers who can put up points and win you games.

3. Defense/Goalie problems

The Montreal Canadiens don’t really have big problems here. Obviously Price is out right now but Jake Allen has been a starter before and put up great numbers so if they get a solid defense core Jake Allen could do it again. Their defense is pretty good, they would need a better first line left defense though. That is Shea Weber. Unfortunately for them he is injured. I think they might need to just do the forward moves and get whatever type of defense they can with whatever extra prospects they have, but they could not afford a good left defense. I think if they would stick with the moves in section 2 they might just be fine.

Who is better, McDavid or Draisaitl Part 2

Hello everyone, today I am going to decide who is better between McDavid and Draisaitl. Last time McDavid got in the lead by winning the categories of Skating and Stickhandling. Draisaitl’s only win is in his shot so far.

First up today is the category physicality.

McDavid and Draisaitl both are more offensive minded players. Draisaitl is a sniper and McDavid is a playmaker. I think Draisaitl wins this one, because even though McDavid has double the amount of hits, a lot of the time McDavid doesn’t fight for the puck unless it is right by him. Draisaitl will stick check people and pin guys or get in a board battle a lot more than McDavid. Obviously Draisaitl is able to do this because of his size, but if McDavid utilized his speed he could also be physical. I think Draisaitl also needs to be more physical though, because McDavid has so much speed he doesn’t fight people to keep the puck, he just blows right by them, whereas Draisaitl fights people away. Regardless, Draisaitl wins this one.

Next is Defense.

I think Draisaitl is actually the winner in this too. McDavid doesn’t play much in the defensive zone without the puck. Draisaitl will cover the people he is supposed to, but McDavid does not always do that. When McDavid’s own team has the puck he will work to get open, but when the other team has it, he just circles around them and doesn’t work in the corner’s or along the boards that much. Draisaitl will do his job though, so he wins this one as well.

The final category is Hockey IQ

McDavid wins this one by a lot. He is always looking for the open ice he can skate to or for the open players he can pass to. Or he is getting open so he can get the pass. Draisaitl is also doing that but he does not do it as good as McDavid. Draisaitl is better at just plowing through and finding guys open that way, but McDavid creates space and because he has better hockey IQ he doesn’t need to plow through as much.

After all the categories are ranked, it is tied 3-3. However, McDavid is better because the ones he lost he would have to slightly tweak his game to dominate in those categories, and Draisaitl would have to do years of work to get as good as McDavid in the ones he lost. So because of McDavid’s potential for all the categories, he comes out on top.

WW Publication #2: Jack Johnson and the Pizza Mystery

Jack Johnson and the Missing Pizza

I had been getting calls about notes. Notes in a pizza box, from Domino’s and Little Caesars. I hadn’t found these notes myself because I can’t stand pizza. The cheese is just so gross. Anyway, something strange was going on; people were buying pizza and the boxes would contain either notes or different foods, like eggplants or sunflower seeds.

Oh, by the way, my name is Jack. Jack Johnson. I’m a private eye on the west side of Cantopton, but I solve cases all over. As a detective, I naturally know everything about almost anyone. When elephants forget, I remind them. My office is dark, because I let the light come through the half-closed window. The dark room is littered with papers; either newspapers, files about numerous people and businesses, or letters of cases someone needs me to solve.

I had read a letter just 5 days ago. Most cases were easy to solve, but this one was different. As I said, the pizza boxes were being filled with other things. That’s not a super big deal but this letter let on more. It was from the owners of both Domino’s and Little Caesars. Their cameras weren’t working and their bank accounts had been hacked, along with all the cash in the building robbed. Million dollar restaurants down to nothing at all. As a result, mass layoffs were happening around these restaurants that were being robbed. The letter was signed by a man named Brody and a woman named Amanda. Brody owned Little Caesars and Amanda owned Domino’s. I told them through a letter to meet me at the Coffee Café, a place that sells coffee and calls itself a café, if you didn’t notice. We all met there the next day.

When I got there, there was no one I wanted to see. However, with my detective research I did recognize the people there. Aiden, Charlie, and Samantha; three people who live on the West side of the city, like me. Aiden and Charlie worked at the Domino’s that was robbed, and Samantha worked at the Little Caesars that was robbed. They regularly came here for coffee. Since they worked for the restaurants that were hit, I thought they might know something about the case, so I asked them.

“Multiple employees have gone missing, but that’s all I know,” Charlie said. The others agreed.

“Interesting. Well, thanks for the help,” I replied as I watched Brody and Amanda walk in.

We found a corner booth, since they are the most private, but I made sure we talked quietly anyway because you never know who’s listening. Brody showed me the last video his camera had recorded before it went black. In the few seconds before, a man who I knew as Ricard walked into what looked like the hallway to the bathroom. Another man, Cornelius, just walked back from the bathroom hallway. A woman named Charlotte was working the counter, but all of the sudden she disappeared and a man with blond hair and glasses appeared.

“That’s weird. I never noticed that man before,” Brody said.

I ran through all the people I know who have blond hair and glasses in the area. Aiden lived close to the area and had glasses, but he had black hair. Ricard though, had blond hair and glasses. It made sense to be him but I needed to investigate more.

I asked Amanda for the video before her camera went out. It happened 6 days ago at 3:00. Charlie was working behind the counter. Aiden had just walked into the kitchen and then the guy with blond hair and glasses appeared from the kitchen. Charlie gave him a look of horror and jumped over the counter. I rewound the video a bit more and found Ricard walked out the door and to the right. The employee entrance was on the right of the building, so it would make sense if he snuck into the kitchen through there. However, he also came in through the right side. He could’ve done that just to fool anyone watching, though. He could have snuck through the employee entrance and tied up Aiden or knocked him out or something. Then he could scare everyone out and break the camera so that the could steal the money and be free to look around. I knew I had to look closer, though. I went back until I got the best angle of the customer who  ordered the pizza. It turned out to be my good friend Marcus. I knew where he lived so I headed over to talk to him.

“What did the guy who came out through the kitchen look like at Domino’s?” I asked.

“I was not looking at the counter when I heard Charlie yell. I was confused but I did a quick back check and saw a guy wearing a mask. I couldn’t tell who it was.”

“What did you see when you ran outside?”

“I saw a car pulling away and the employee entrance door was open.”

“What did you do after that?”

“I hopped into my car and drove away, but I saw the person wearing the mask take it off, and I’m not sure but it looked like a woman with black hair ran out of the employee entrance at the same time.”

“Ok, thanks for the help.” I said as I walked away.

If Marcus was right and there was a black haired woman, I would guess it would be Samantha Sally. She had been caught breaking into that very Domino’s three years ago and got out of the slammer only a year prior to now. She was also friends with Ricard. She might be paying Ricard to distract the pizza place with enough time to mess up the pizza deliveries, steal money, and maybe buy enough time to find the bank account password.

There was only one thing wrong with this theory. Why did Aiden and Charlie not mention this key part when I asked what happened? So far my suspects were Samantha, Ricard, Aiden, and also Cornelius since he worked for a costume shop, and had a wealth of masks at home. I only had to do three. more things before I would be getting nearly done the case. 1: Talk to my suspects, 2: Investigate the scene, and 3: Order myself a pizza (from Domino’s. It was back up and running, but Little Caesars was not). First, I talked to my suspects. My first conversation was with Aiden.

“What happened in the kitchen in the moments before someone came out of the kitchen?”

“A guy with glasses and a blond wig snuck up on me and just as I turned around he wacked me in the head. I only woke up three hours later..”

Reasonable. Next was Cornelius.

“Where were you at 3:00 6 days ago?”

“My shift only ends at 5:00. I was still at work.” He replied.

Makes sense. Next up, Samantha.

“When was the last time you saw Ricard, and what were you doing?” I asked.

“I was on my way to Domino’s when I saw him walking his dog.”

“What day and time was it?”

“6 days ago at 2:30.”

“Who was the masked man?”

“Who was who? I don’t remember a guy wearing a mask since last Halloween. I might have missed it though, because I left at 2:50.”

“When was the last time you saw Aiden?”

“When I ordered my pizza that day. He was at the counter until I ordered.”

He was, but that is still suspicious. I talked to Ricard next.

“When was the last time you were at Little Caesars.”

“4 days ago at 1:00.”

That was the same time the camera went out. That was why Little Caesars wasn’t back up yet, because it got hit after Domino’s.

“When was the last time you went to Domino’s?”

“I  never go there, because the staff is sketchy, but I did drive by about 6 days ago and I saw a man taking off a mask outside of it. It was the one on the West side of the city.”

Sort of suspicious. Finally, Charlie.

“After the blond, masked man came out through the kitchen, when did you go back into the kitchen, and what did it look like?”

“The next time was about 2 hours and 30 minutes later. I saw all our cash was gone, our files in the office that contained the bank account was gone, and the breaker box was blown up.”

“Was anyone else there?”

“Aiden was there, looking around at the scene too.”

I finished recording the notes and then headed over to Domino’s. Little Caesars was obviously hit by the same criminals so I didn’t have to look there. When I got to that Domino’s location, I walked in and looked at the cash register. No money. I went in the back to the kitchen. It looked all fine except the breaker box was blown up, like Charlie said. In the far back left corner was the office, but unfortunately it was locked.. I figured I should look at the video again.

I looked at the footage from Domino’s at the time of the Little Caesars crime. Marcus ordered a pizza and Aiden went in the back to make it. Charlie went in the back to check on him and 5 minutes later, came out with the pizza. Then another customer came in 15 minutes later and had a really complicated order, so when Charlie went in the back to tell Aiden the order it took about 10 minutes before Aiden came back with the pizza.

I reviewed the notes that night and found something that tipped me off and confirmed my suspicions. To make sure it was correct, I ordered a pizza from Domino’s, but under the name John Smith. John was a man getting in trouble with the law often. If they thought it was him, they might give him a secret message. I ordered it to be delivered to the park.

After 20 minutes the Domino’s van came and gave me the pizza. I took it and told them John was stuck in traffic, but since it is his, I will be sure to give it to him. Then, I didn’t follow through on that promise.

When I opened it, it had a note instead of a pizza and it said, “Join us. Meet us at the coffee café and call this number as well to lock in your spot in this job. 204-925-4114.”

I called that number to get to the bottom of this. After putting on my best imitation of John Smith, I typed in that number on my iPhone and  Boston Pizza picked up.

“Hello, Boston Pizza, Winnipeg. What do you need?” A cheery worker said.

‘I’m in.” I replied.

“Great. Break into Pizza Hut and bring their recipe to us. Also try to steal their money, get their bank account password, and kidnap their customers. Do it undercover though, because we can’t be caught. You get  50% of the money you bring in.”

“Alright, sounds good.” I lied. It didn’t sound good.

I was a little surprised they gave out a note like that, but they were expecting John Smith, a villain. Not a detective like me. Obviously a bad move on their part.

Boston Pizza was hiring people to take down pizza shops so they would be the last one standing! That way, all the pizza customers would flow through their doors. Now I just had to find out who was hired. As I said, I went over my notes I took from the conversation yesterday, and so now my suspect list changed. 1: Charlie, 2: Samantha, 3: Aiden, 4: Cornelius, 5: Ricard.

It had changed so suddenly because of two reasons. 1. Aiden said he was out for three hours, but Charlie said Aiden was at the scene checking it out 2 hours and 30 minutes after, and 2. When I checked the scene, the office was locked. I confirmed later that there were two keys; both always in Amanda’s possession. But she lost one key about a week before this happened. If there was only one key, how would Charlie see the bank account file was missing, since there was only one key that anybody could have. Two people could not have gotten in to a locked office unless they both had a key. There was only one key, which meant if Charlie got in the office, he was the one who stole the key. Obviously he had possession of the key, which meant he had to steal that folder.

I thought all I had to do now was go to the Coffee Café the next day, but things took  a turn for the worse. I got a call from Brody, who’s Little Caesars was still down.

“How’s the case going?” He asked.

“I almost have it solved.” I replied.

“Get it done before 9 A.M. tomorrow. I am losing too much revenue by being closed like this.” He said.

“That fast? Give me just one more day!” I said in shock.

“I need to keep Little Caesars running. I have to pay the bills. Get it done before 9 A.M. or you don’t get paid.” He said as he hung up.

I thought hard for an hour before I got a great idea. I had a lead, but I didn’t know for sure who it was. However, I was going to change all that. I headed over to Aiden’s house.

He opened the door and I asked, “What pizza did you make for Marcus when the blonde guy invaded?”

He took the bait. “Our new special; Peanut butter pizza.”

He was correct. About how it was a special, of course, not what Marcus ordered. Marcus was allergic to peanuts.

“Yeah right. Obviously you didn’t know what he ordered because you were too busy changing into a wig and glasses. Mind if I look around?”

“Actually, yes I do.” Aiden said firmly.

I forced my way through and looked around. First I saw a wig. Then I saw Charlotte and a bunch of other workers tied up. Next I saw a computer opened to Little Caesars bank account. I used my MMA skills to quickly get Aiden on the ground and then I tied him up. Next I walked over to the laptop and looked at who was signed in. Charlie Buehlmann , it said. Boston Pizza hired both Aiden and Charlie to rob Domino’s and Little Caesars. I walked over to Aiden.

“So you and Charlie were both hired by Boston Pizza, huh? You the muscles; Charlie the brain?”

“I’m not the brain, I’m the muscles” I heard a voice say. It was Charlie.

He walked up to me and got a quick punch in that made me stumble back. I scurried back to my house to call the cops, but my line was jammed. I got a message from Aiden on Facebook.

“Sry, jammed ur line. It will be back up if u give us 10G.”

I was wrong. Aiden was the brains and Charlie was the muscle. But they posed the other way to make it confusing! I knew I had to do something fast, so I ran to the gas station, popped in a quarter, and notified the cops, Brody, and Amanda. Long story short, they were sent to the slammer, along with Cal Rutherford; the owner of Boston Pizza.

Now, I’m reading the newspaper that came out today. It says,

“Aiden Fiola, Charlie Buehlmann escape prison and could be anywhere. Keep an eye out.”

Is Leon Draisaitl or Connor McDavid better? Part one

Hello, today I will blog about who is better, Leon Draisaitl or Connor McDavid (This season only, I’m not taking into account other seasons)

I will be judging off of 6 different things, Shots, stickhandling, skating, physicality, defense, and Hockey IQ.

First up is shots.

Leon Draisaitl has the advantage here. This is Draisaitl’s best area in my opinion. Sometimes McDavid shows off his nice wrister with a quick one but Draisaitl knows how to use his stick and he can score from any angle. He is great at getting open so he can get a pass and once he gets ready to shoot, he scores a lot of the time. McDavid’s goals might make you think he is a good shooter, but McDavid likes to flick it top shelf in the close quarters. Draisaitl wins this one by a lot.

Stickhandling:

Both McDavid and Draisaitl are good stickhandlers, but it isn’t if you can do the moves, it’s who can pull them off faster and while doing it faster. McDavid has the edge here. Draisaitl’s tendency is to shoot the puck and McDavid is better at pulling off quick movements to leave the opposition flatfooted. McDavid even does it all at such a high speed. In my opinion, McDavid is the best stickhandler in the NHL because he does what Patrick Kane does but at a higher speed. So McDavid takes the cake in this one.

Skating:

The final category of today is skating. Obviously McDavid wins this one. Skating is his bread and butter. He is the fastest skater in the NHL and also has great edge and crossovers that get him around the defense. If  McDavid didn’t have his skating ability, he would not be even near as good a player because he couldn’t get in close as easy. Draisaitl is an okay skater but he relies more on just getting to an open place anywhere in the zone and shooting it rather than skating in, although he can do it too. So for this category, McDavid wins in a landslide.

So far it is 2-1 for McDavid with three categories left. Come back soon to see who wins!

WW. Stephen the Legend publication 1

Stephen The Legend

Wardell Stephen Curry II was born on March 14, 1988 in Akron, Ohio, at the Summa Akron City Hospital; the same hospital Lebron James was born at 3 years earlier. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, because his dad played for the Hornets. Then his family moved to Toronto for his dad’s career. Steph attended Queensway Christian Boy School. Then they moved back to Charlotte where Steph played high school ball at Charlotte Christian School. He finished up there and chose to play for Davidson College, who had been recruiting him since tenth grade. He went on to get chosen 7th overall by the Golden State Warriors in 2009. Currently, he is an NBA point guard. Many consider him the best shooter ever. His height is 6’2” and his weight is 185 pounds.

His parents are Wardell and Sonya Curry. They split up last April. He has a younger brother, Seth, who plays for the 76ers and a sister named Sydel who is married to NBA player, Damion Lee. Stephen Curry married Ayesha Alexander on July 30, 2011, in Charlotte. They have three kids, daughters Riley and Ryan, and son Canon. Curry speaks a lot about his Christianity. He wrote 4:13 on his basketball shoes, which stands for Phillipians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Steph has won many awards. He has won the NBA title with the Warriors twice, been an all star 7 times, been a first team all star 4 times, been the scoring champion twice, got the Steals Leader Award, become the first in the 50-40-90 club, won the three point contest twice, made  it onto the NBA all rookie first team, and won the NCAA scoring leader, just to name a few. He has won more than just these as well. A big part of how he was able to get these awards is how he can easily make the net say swish when he shoots the ball from anywhere on the court. He has even made half court shots in a game. He can do this because as a kid he practiced with every minute he had. Because his dad played NBA, he had his own court at home and could access any court he wanted.

In Steph’s first season as a Warrior, he averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1.90 steals per 36:12. He was named the Western Conference rookie for January, March, and April. At the end of his rookie season, he came runner up for rookie of the year to Tyreke Evans. On January 3rd, 2021, Steph scored a career high 62 points in a 137-122 win over Portland. In April of 2021, he became the first player in NBA history to get 96 three pointers, and average 35 points and shoot 50-40-90 in a Calendar month. Curry’s 4 pointers per game career total is 3.7, and his highest ever average was 5.1 in both 2015-16 and 2018-19. He averages 24.2 points per game. He also averages 1.7 steals per game. His assists per game is 6.5. Curry has 2,832 total three pointers at the time of writing, which is good enough for the second on the all time list. The leader, Ray Allen, has 2,973, so Curry is almost the all time leader. On the list, he is also the top point guard. It shows he is one of the most successful basketball players in history.

I like Curry because he is a very good player. He also has some funny quotes. Curry is really good at shooting long range and I like shooting long range better too. I am also a Christian like him so we are kind of similar. He is my favourite NBA player. That is why I like him.

Curry has reached the top of the shooters mountain of basketball. I hope you learned something about Curry and I hope you like him a little better now.

Warriors' resurgence continues as Steph Curry grabs 50 points and 10 assists | NBA | The Guardian

My season so far

My hockey season so far is going good. We have played three games and we won every one. I have 12 goals and 5 assists so far. This weekend we have a tournament in the city against house league city teams in St. Eustach.

Our first game was against Lundar.  We won 10-4. I scored 5 goals in that game. Their goalie didn’t go into the butterfly that much so I scored a goal five hole and some dekes because I had a lot of breakaways. They had two big players, number 54 and 55, and they scored basically all the goals for their team. That game I played on a line with Ryder and Dawson. Sometimes I played on the powerplay with Ronnie and Ryder. The game was tilted our way right from the start.

The second game was against Stonewall. In that game we won 11-1 and I had 6 goals and 1 assist. They played both their goalies and both the goalies always dropped down instantly so it was easy to score plus on my last goal the goalie left the whole right side open. I was on a line with Ryder and Dawson, but it would switch sometimes so I also played with Ronnie and Luke and Tanner throughout the game. My assist was to Ronnie. He was skating up towards the other blue line so I gave him a long stretch pass and he dangled the goalie out of his jock. That game was the most tilted game of them all. Charlie played the whole game and only let in one goal. Ronnie scored a goal from the blue line where he tried to just dump it in but it went right towards the goalie sliding on the ice. Then the goalie left his five hole wide open as he tried to grab the puck and it went right through. Charlie made a beautiful save. He got one save but let out a rebound and a Stonewall player had the whole net to shoot at. Charlie dived back and stretched out his arm and made the save. Denial services, call again soon.

Our latest game was against Gimli. They were crosschecking us the whole time behind the play and didn’t get called but it didn’t matter because we still won 11-1. I had 1 goal and 4 assists in that one. I could’ve scored 2 goals but I choked on a breakaway. I should’ve deked the goalie but I shot it instead and he saved the shot. That game was annoying because they were playing a little bit dirty but we got the final laugh anyway, and we were also dirty at some points. Ronnie and Ryder both had hattricks in that game. This game was a back-to-back so I was a little tired but that’s no excuse. Gimli had one good player and their other players were decent but not super good, and their one good player was number 81. He was big and fast. He didn’t score their only goal. One kid punched me in the face after a whistle, and all he got was a warning. It was only a love tap though so he didn’t need to be suspended but I think he still deserved at least a 2 minute minor. Mason played this game and he played very well. I got one of my assists on Dawson’s first goal of the season. He was in front of the net and I got it to him. He hit it perfectly five hole for a goal. This game seemed the least tilted even though if you look at the final score Lundar’s game was the least tilted.

That is how the season is going. Check out this blog and also this one too. Fred and Floyd Part one

Fred was a human. So was Floyd. Or was he…

It had been three years since the sharks grew legs. Yeah right, you’re probably thinking, but no, that actually happened. Now the sharks ruled the planet. You couldn’t even go to the nearest A&W shop to get even the smallest size of root beer! Now that the sharks found out about fast food, they couldn’t stop eating it. Great whites were, of course, the rulers of each country. If they got mad at their subjects, they would devour them in minutes. Luckily, their subjects were always bull or tiger sharks, so the humans were safe from this particular fate. The ruler of Canada was a Great White named Flapjack. He ate pancakes whenever he could. Flapjack’s palace was the West Edmonton Mall, and he took swims in the wave pool when he wasn’t busy devouring pancakes. The only business he had was eating pancakes, swimming, and every once in a while he would sleep in the Imax. The important business was up to his right hand man, Baby Shark to figure out.

Unfortunately for Canada, Baby Shark only spoke his own language, which was a mess of doo doo doo’s. So every Canadian had no idea what to do. After the first two years, most of them tried to move out where they were taking by Baby Shark. Baby Shark was always watching. When they were taken, they were in charge of operating the McDonalds’s, A&W’s, Wendy’s, and the occasional one would cook at a Timmy’s. They had controlled ingredients so the cooks couldn’t poison the sharks. If they did, well, don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to. Fred was one of these people who tried to escape, and he got put to work in an Edmonton A&W on the outskirts. Out of all of Canada, Edmonton was the least safe place to live. Because Flapjack lived there, he might send a wave of sharks out to get more workers. for these businesses and labourers to make more fast food places. The safest place was Churchill, because it is a small city up North that is remote and a good distance away from Flapjack. That was were Fred saw his brother Floyd, last. Fred had to live inside the A&W he worked for. He wanted to poison everything he made but he couldn’t. He was very lucky, however that his particular restaurant, was the least monitored out of every one in Edmonton.

Floyd was in Saskatoon, and he was racing towards Edmonton. He had some poison that tasted like salt. If he gave it to Fred before it expired, there was a chance both Baby Shark and Flapjack could take the poison and meet their fate. Of course, normally, if you could get rid of a leader a new leader would come, but the shark board of the world was so cocky they decided if you created a fate for any leader of any country that worked, you would become the leader of that country. Floyd  was a power hungry man (?) that always wanted to lead a country. He was currently in a red corvette that was speeding at 250 kph. If he kept this speed up, it would take him 2.09 hours to get to Edmonton (yes, I actually did that math) and this poison expired next week. He could get a full week to take down as many sharks as possible if he made it to Edmonton soon.

2.09 hours later, he was at the A&W. Floyd was an amazing hacker, so he knew the monitoring hours and planned out his drive perfectly to get him there at the start of the longest break of the day. He had 5.25 hours to hand off the salty poison and get out. Fred was waiting for him outside.

“This is the poison. It looks just like salt so it won’t be confiscated by the next shark guards when they come back. Now let me take a tour of this place.”

“Ok thank you. Check out the place.”

Floyd went in and placed the poison on the counter.

“I’ll put this little red dot on the real salt so you won’t make your own snack with the poison.”

“Ok, thanks.” replied Fred.

“Are you sure this will work.” He continued.

“Oh, for sure. I know you might think I’m only a hacker but I am a great inventor too. None of my inventions ever fail.” Floyd replied in a serious tone.

Sorry bro, but I want to lead this country by myself, Floyd the human (?) thought.

He put the red dot on the poison instead!!!
